Yamaha MT-09 Launched At Auto Expo 2016 At ₹10.20 Lakh

The Yamaha MT-09 performance street bike has been launched at ₹ 10.20 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) at the Auto Expo 2016. The MT-09 will be imported into the country via the CBU channel. The Yamaha MT-09 is set to compete with the Kawasaki Z-800 and the Triumph Street Triple. Yamaha MT-09 launched at Auto Expo makes it the latest CBU entrant from Yamaha in the Indian market.


The Yamaha MT-09 is powered by a newly developed 3-cylinder 847 cc inline engine that is liquid cooled. The engine generates a maximum power of 113 hp @ 10000 rpm and maximum torque of 87.5 Nm @ 8500 rpm. The gearbox is six speed. The MT-09 goes from 0 – 100 kmph in 3.4 seconds. The top speed of the motorcycle is 225 kmph.


The MT-09 weighs at 188 kg (191 kg with ABS). With a die cast aluminum diamond type frame and swing arm, the MT-09 has minimal use of body panels and a chiseled fuel tank. The fuel tank capacity is 14 liters. The seating posture is upright with a wide handle bar and foot pegs that are mildly set to the rear. The braking setup consist of a 298mm dual disc brake setup at the front and a 245mm disc brake setup at the rear. The front is equipped with telescopic forks with 137mm of travel while the rear features a link – type suspension that is horizontally mounted.


The MT-09 comes with a Traction Control System (TCS), two different riding modes and ABS. The MT-09 will be available in two different shades: Race Blue and Matt Grey.
