Mahindra has showcased the SsangYong Tivoli at the Auto Expo. The Tivoli is the Korean Automaker’s SUV that has attracted a following outside India. It is the SUV that reinvigorated the SsangYong brand in Europe. The Tivoli is positioned in India to take on the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Maruti S-Cross and the Renault Duster.
The SsangYong Tivoli is powered by a newly developed 1.6 liter engine that is available in petrol and diesel variants. The petrol variant develops 124 hp and 157 Nm of torque. The diesel variant generates 113 hp and 300 Nm of torque. The transmission is a 6-speed manual in addition to a single clutch automatic from AISIN.
SsangYong Tivoli is the automaker’s first offering that uses 70% of high tensile strength steel in the construction of the SUV which translates to light weight and high rigidity. The Tivoli measures 4195mm in length and 1795mm in width which is said to be the widest in class. The wheelbase is 2600mm. The Tivoli has a boxy profile that is inspired from the XIV Adventure concept and features curved lines along the body. LED DRLs, alloy wheels and LED tail lamps complete the package.
SsangYong Tivoli has a host of features such as ABS, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Tire Pressure Monitory System (TPMS) and Smart Steer Function with 3 modes: Normal, Comfort and Sport. A 3.5 inch touchscreen, automatic climate control and flat-bottomed steering wheel are part of the package. The interior colour options include black, beige and red. The second row of seats can be folded down for additional cargo space.
Mahindra have not announced a launch date for the SsangYong Tivoli as yet.
