Renault have unveiled a specially accessorized Kwid at the 2016 Auto Expo. The Renault Kwid has been a hugely successful model for the French manufacturer with over 10000 units being booked in India. With the showcased model at the Auto Expo, Renault have successfully brought out the customizability of the Kwid hatchback. Renault Kiwd Climber and Renault Kiwd Racer concepts look great. The showcased model gets a specially chrome treated grille with a black and white sticker on the bonnet. The sticker runs along the shoulder length of the hatchback all the way to the rear window. External cosmetic changes and modifications include a black roof and black rear view mirrors.
The interiors feature minimal changes. A red panel has been included under the gear lever slot, red stitching and lines on the seats. A red and black carpet layer is present underneath the accelerator pedal.
Renault also unveiled the Kwid 1.0 liter variant and the Kwid AMT at the expo. The Kwid 1.0 is powered by a 1.0 liter engine with Smart Control efficiency (SCe). The engine specifications are not available yet. A 5-speed manual gearbox is standard. The AMT version gets an automatic transmission which is derived from Renault’s F1 expertise according to the company.

The Renault Kwid AMT features an advanced control unit that optimizes gear shifting and the acceleration by monitoring throttle input. A crawl function enables the car to move slowly at idle speeds when the brake is released. It works in forward and reverse modes. The AMT can be operated with an innovative shift Control Dial that has three driving modes: Reverse, Neutral and Drive.
Additionally, the manufacturer also showcased the Kwid Climber concept which is the off road variant of the Kwid. The off road model gets special alloy wheels and a higher ground clearance. The Renault Kiwd Climber concept also features a special fog lamp housing that consists of 4 LEDs and protective cladding on the headlamps. Renault has hinted at possible production of this concept in the future.
The Renault Kwid Racer concept is a sportier version of the hatchback. The Racer concept features a roll cage, 18 inch alloy wheels with low profile tyres. A “totem” stacked console displays telemetry data for the driver. The interior consists of bucket seats with 4-point seat belts.
