Nissan GT-R R35 Unveiled at Auto Expo 2016

The Nissan GT-R R35 has been showcased at the Auto Expo. The GT-R R35 is the successor of the iconic Skyline GT-R. It features ground breaking technologies and craftsmanship that has earned it the respect of enthusiasts and a fan following around the world. The 4-seater coupe is considered Nissan’s ultra-performance supercar and popularly known as the ‘Godzilla’. The Nissan GT-R R35 goes up against the likes of the Lamborghini Huracan LP 610-4 and 580-2, Audi R8 and the Porsche 911 Turbo.

The Nissan GT-R is powered by a hand-built twin turbocharged 3.8 liter DOHC V6 engine that produces a maximum power of 545 hp @ 6400 rpm and a peak torque of 632 Nm @ 3200-5800 rpm. Power is delivered to all the 4 wheels via a 6-speed dual clutch automated/manual transmission with paddle shifters. The 4-wheel drive system is full time and is a standard feature on the GT-R. The GT-R achieves the 0-100 kmph mark in 3.5 seconds and has a top speed in excess of 311 kmph. The Nissan GT-R is the fifth fastest car around the Nurburgring racetrack, at 7 minutes and 8 seconds

The GT-R features front and rear anti-roll bars, double wishbone front and multi-link rear suspensions and is very aerodynamically sculpted. It has a very low center of gravity and a drag coefficient of 0.26. The GT-R has 20-inch forged alloy wheels with run-flat extreme performance tires. The tires are specially made and are filled with Nitrogen only. It also features driver assist technologies such as mechanical limited-slip differential and an independent trans-axle.


The GT-R measures 4671mm long, 1895mm wide and stands 1369mm high. The wheel base is 2780mm. The car weighs in at 1740 kg. A fully automatic projector beam directionally adaptive headlamp with DRL and auto levelling lights are part of the package. A black grille, light tinted glass, aluminum door handles, LED tail lights, black window and windshield trims, high strength panels and a rear spoiler add to the sport look of the GT-R.

Electronic features on the GT-R include ABS, Driveline Traction Control (DTC), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Low Tire Pressure Warning and Dual Stage Driver Assist. It also has features such as backup camera, cruise control, engine immobilizer, voice activated dual zone front AC and auto dimming rear view mirror as part of the package.


The interior of the GT-R includes a leather upholstered dashboard, a navigation system with voice activation, carbon fiber inserts on the instrument panel, metal look panel insert and console inserts. The seats are multi-adjustable with heating. Safety features also include side impact beams and should safety belts with pretensioners. The steering column is manual tilt/telescopic with a multi-functional steering wheel.


The Nissan GT-R is expected to be launched in India by the end of the year. To keep the exclusivity of the GT-R, Nissan has allocated only 5 units for India. The GT-R is expected to retail at a premium price of ₹ 3 crore.
