The Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet has been showcased at the Auto Expo. The S-Class Cabriolet is the final variant of the S-Class range. It is touted as the most luxurious and comfortable convertible in the world. The S-Class Cabriolet is a 2 door 2+2 convertible. The interior and the exterior is identical to the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe. It marks the return of the open – top S-Class that was sold internationally from 1961 – 1971.
Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet is available in two engine options. The top of the line version is powered by a 5.5 liter twin turbo V8 petrol engine that generates 585 hp and 900 Nm of torque. It is coupled to a 7G-DCT (7-speed dual clutch transmission). Power is delivered via a 4MATIC AWD system. The car achieves the 0-100 kmph mark in 3.9 seconds.

The Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet is packed with features that make the car one of the best in the luxury convertible segment.
The S-Class Cabriolet has a fabric roof top which takes 20 seconds to fold completely. It can be opened/closed at speeds of up to 60 kmph. The roof can be opened or closed from outside the car using an electronic key. This system sits above the automatically extending luggage compartment partition. An automatic wind protection system called ‘AIRCAP’ is available as an option. The wind protection system consists of two components: a wind deflector and an extendable draught-stop behind the rear seats. This reduces turbulence inside the car. The wind deflector is finished in the same color as the rest of the car.
An optional neck-level heating feature called ‘AIRSCARF’ is also available. The car also features heated armrests, seat heaters for the rear seats and a THERMOTRONIC intelligent automatic climate control system. It doesn’t require the driver to select a mode for the open or closed top. The AC unit is fully networked and communicates with the various components in the vehicle. The system detects the ideal climate for the cabin via 12 sensors and 18 actuators. The sensors also detect the level of solar radiation.
Other features include dual 12.1-inch display for the instrument cluster and a COMAND infotainment system. The seats feature Nappa leather upholstery. An AIR-BALANCE package and Burmester Audio System are included as well. Mercedes-Benz intends to launch the S-Class Cabriolet in India by the end of 2016.
