McLaren 570GT debuts at Geneva Motor Show

The McLaren 570GT sportscar has been showcased at the Geneva Motor Show. The 570GT is the everyday sportscar that you could drive to work and back. It has a more balanced approach to speed. The 570GT is based on the McLaren 570S, but has certain features that are unique to it.

The 570GT takes the 570S’ formula and broadens its appeal. The engine is the same as that of the 570S. The 3.8 liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine generates 562hp and 599Nm of torque. But to maintain the everyday use of the car for which it has been specifically designed, McLaren engineers have softened the suspension and quieting the exhaust. It is quieter than the 560S and perhaps the biggest change in nature for the 570GT. The car also offers more boot space.

The 570GT forgoes the 570S’ carbon ceramic brakes and has quieter steel rotor brakes. The tires are also different from that of the 570S. The 570GT gets a set of Pirelli tires that can reduce the cabin noise by as much as 3dB. The 570GT also gets a new luggage cover over the mid mounted engine. With this, the luggage space has been increased to 12.3 cubic inches. There is a rear hatch in place which swings open instead of lifting up. This makes access to the cargo area much easier.
