The Hyundai IONIQ hybrid will be showcased at the Geneva Motor Show. The Hyundai IONIQ line of hybrids will be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show and will be sold under the IONIQ banner. All the cars sport the same coupe-like sedan design. According to Hyundai, the design provides a low coefficient of drag. This is the vehicle for folks who are making fuel efficiency their main priority.
Under the hood, the Hyundai IONIQ cars will be powered by a 1.6 liter 4-cylinder engine that generates 104hp. The engine is mated with 32kW electric motor that pushes the output up to 139hp. The engine is mated to a six-speed dual clutch automatic transmission for the hybrid variant. A 1.6 liter 4-cylinder engine with a 45kW electric motor variant is part of the lineup and is mated to a six-speed dual clutch automatic transmission. (Plug-in hybrid). Finally, there is an 88kW maximum power electric motor (battery electric version). According to Hyundai, the plug-in version will get around 31 miles of pure-electric range on a full charge. The electric version is expected to have a range of 155 miles. The mileage of the engine is not known at the moment.
Safety features include an automatic emergency braking, a lane departure system, blind-spot detection, rear cross-traffic alert and adaptive cruise control. Hyundai has not released additional information about the interior of the IONIQ cars. A “Purified High-Tech” concept is being followed, according to the automaker. What that means, we will have to wait and see. The IONIQ cars feature the traditional large, hexagonal grille, but that is that. There are contrasting colors at the base and nine-exterior color choices are available.
