BMW Group celebrates 100 year anniversary in 2016. To celebrate the centenary of the BMW Group, BMW Motorrad has created 4 limited edition models of its most popular bikes. The bikes in question are the BMW R1200GS, the R1200GS Adventure, the R1200RS and the R1200RT. BMW commemorates its 100th anniversary by launching the R1200 variants in an ‘Iconic 100 Collection’. According to BMW Motorrad, the limited edition models will be restricted to 100 numbers each and each bike will be individually numbered. Each of the 4 limited edition bikes are based on the top-of-the-line models in their respective range.
The R1200GS Iconic is based on the R1200GS TE Alpine. It gets a custom paint-job that is inspired by the BMW Dakar bikes of the 1980s. It has a red seat with a diamond stitching and includes an embossed ‘Iconic 100’ logo. The R1200GS Iconic is expected to cost about $25,000 OTR.
The R1200GS Adventure Iconic is based on the R1200GS Adventure. It has a custom paint-job that is inspired by the BMW Dakar bikes of the 1980s. The Adventure Iconic also gets a diamond stitched red seat and the ‘Iconic 100’ logo. It is expected to cost around $26,000 OTR.
The R1200RS Iconic is based on the R1200RS Sport SE. It features a custom paint-job that is inspired by the ‘Smoke Grey’ 1976 R90 S. As the other models, it also features a custom seat with red diamond stitching. The R1200RS Iconic retails at around $22,000 OTR.
Finally, the R1200RT Iconic is based on the R1200RT LE. It has a burgundy smoked effect paint work that is inspired from the ‘Lava Rot’ R100 RT of the 1970s. It features the red custom seat with diamond stitching and the ‘Iconic 100’ logo. The R1200RT Iconic retails at around $30,000 OTR.
