The Alfa Romeo Disco Volante Spider will be showcased at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. It is the latest work from the Italian Design House Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera which is celebrating its 90th anniversary. The Disco Volante Spider is based on the design of the Alfa Romeo 8c Competizione, unlike the hardtop version that has come before it. The Alfa Romeo Disco Volante Spider will be limited in production. The 8c Competizione Spider was limited to 500 Coupe and 500 Spider models.
The Alfa Romeo Disco Volante Spider will be even rarer than the 8c. Only seven cars are planned for production. Each one will be painted in a different unique color. The color that will debut at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show will be called Blue Ceruleo. A green one was shown off at the Geneva Motor Show previously in 2014.
Alfa Romeo has not released any details about the Disco Volante Spider. While it is not known what engine will power the car, it can be safely guessed that it would get the 4.7 liter V8 engine of the original 8c model with a six-speed semi-automatic transmission. The engine would generate 444hp and 474Nm of torque. That should give the Disco Volante Spider the ability to run the 0-100kmph sprint in about 4 seconds, and a top speed of 289kmph (186 mph).
No other details are known about the Alfa Romeo Disco Volante. It is a real work of art and is bound to turn heads at the Geneva Motor Show on March 1st. More details will be known once the car is showcased at the Motor Show. We cannot wait to see it in the flesh.
