The 2017 Jaguar F-Type SVR has been unveiled ahead of the Geneva Motor Show. The F-Type SVR is the top-of-the-line range-topping performance edition of the F-type series. It is an all-wheel drive two-seater performance car which adopts Land Rover’s new SVR performance moniker. It is the first Jaguar to bear the name. The F-type SVR is also available as a two-seat convertible.
The Jaguar F-Type SVR is powered by a supercharged 5.0 liter V8 engine that makes 575hp and 699Nm of torque. This helps the SVR achieve the 0-100kmph dash in 3.5 seconds. The transmission is an 8-speed automatic. The SVR is nearly 55 pounds (25 kg) lighter than the F-Type R. The F-Type SVR has a curb weight of 3759 pounds (1705 kg). The Jaguar F-Type SVR maintains daily drivability. It has numerous aerodynamic enhancements that run from stem to stem and underneath the car. There is a front splitter that extends ahead of the lower bumper. There is an adjustable spoiler at the rear. The SVR has larger air-intakes that flank the grille. The hood has redesigned vents. A titanium exhaust contributes to the reduced weight of the car, by slashing nearly 35 pounds (15.8 kg) in comparison to the F-Type R’s steel exhaust. The titanium exhaust has been designed to reduce back pressure and contributes towards an ‘even more purposeful, harder-edged’ sound.
The SVR features unique calibrations for a variety of driving systems. The electronics include power steering, torque-vectoring differential, electronic stability system to name a few. The adaptive suspension has SVR specific tuning and has new shock absorbers and stabilizer bars. The alloys wheels are 20 inch.
On the interior, the SVR’s gauges, steering wheel and the center console have suede-like cloth wrappings. The seats are covered in a unique Lozengne Quilt leather pattern. Other options include tan or red leather. Performance options on the SVR include carbon-ceramic disc brakes and various carbon fiber pieces. An all carbon roof can be installed too. With these, the SVR can shed another 55 pounds (28kg).
All that speed and features do not come cheap. The Jaguar F-Type SVR will cost $125,945 at the minimum. The convertible variant costs an additional $2,850. The SVR will be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show on March 1st and will be available at dealerships in summer. Customers can place orders for the SVR now.
