Chevrolet debuted the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro 1LE at the Chicago Auto Show. The Camaro 1LE, which is the track variant of the Camaro is offered in a V6 or V8 engine package. The V8 is the traditional Camaro 1LE package. The V6 is the newest offering. The Chevrolet Camaro 1LE has upgraded suspension, better brakes, aerodynamic treatments for creating more downforce and improved cooling features. According to Chevrolet, the goal is to make the Camaro 1LE go fast. Faster laps is the target it is chasing.
Chevrolet Camaro 1LE is powered by two variants of the engine. The V6 generates 335hp of peak power, while the V8 generates 455hp. The gearbox is a six-speed manual transmission. There is no automatic transmission variant.
The 6.2 liter V8 Chevrolet Camaro 1LE is offered as the SS 1LE. The SS 1LE gets a host of features that makes it 3 seconds faster compared to the standard Camaro SS. The SS 1LE features Magnetic Ride Control for the FE4 suspension and electronic slip differential. It comes with 6-piston Brembo brake calipers in the front. The SS 1LE gets forged aluminum wheels with 285/30ZR20 front and 305/30ZR20 rear Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar tires. The compounds for this tire was specially devised for the Camaro.
The 3.6 liter V6 engine variant is built on the chassis design of the V8 model. It has a mechanical limited slip differential and four piston Brembo brake calipers in front. The fuel system is the same as the V8 variant. It features 20 inch forged aluminum wheels with GoodYear Eagle F1 rubber measuring 245/40R20 in front and 275/35R20 in back.
Chevrolet has added other features that differentiate the Chevrolet Camaro 1LE variant from the other Camaro variants. It gets a satin black hood, a three piece rear spoiler and a custom front splitter. The interior has additional features such as a suede covered steering wheel and short throw shifter. A dual-mode exhaust system, coolers for the engine, transmission and differential are standard. Chevrolet’s Performance Data Recording system is an option on both.
