The Ducati 959 Panigale has been announced for sale in India. The 2016 Ducati 959 Panigale will be available for customers from July this year. The price will be at ₹ 14.04 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The 959 Panigale is the successor of the 899 Panigale. It completes the Panigale lineup that consists of the 1299 Panigale, the 1299 Panigale S and R variants.
The Ducati 959 Panigale borrows the L-twin engine from the 899. The stroke is slightly longer which adds 56 cubic centimeters of capacity that brings the displacement to 955cc. The engine generates a maximum power of 157hp @ 10500rpm and a maximum torque of 107.4Nm @ 9000 rpm. The 959 Panigale falls short of being a true liter class bike by 44cc. Ducati calls this the ‘Supermid’.
The 959 Panigale has a Showa suspension setup with big piston forks at the front and a Sachs monoshock at the rear. The frame is made of monocoque aluminum. The front and rear wheels are 10-spoke rear alloy and shod with Pirelli Diablo Rossa Corsa tires. The braking system consists of 2x320mm semi-floating discs with Brembo calipers at the front and a single 245mm disc with Brembo calipers at the rear. ABS is standard on the 959 Panigale. The 959 Panigale measures 2056mm in length, 810mm in width and 1115mm in height. The dry weight is 176kg.
The electronics package on the 959 Panigale is comprehensive and is similar to the package on its older sibling, the 1299 Panigale. It gets the complete Ducati Electronics Package: Ducati Traction Control (DTC), ride-by-wire, 3 different riding modes that are fully customizable and the Ducati Quick Shifting (DQS). There is also a Ducati Data Analyzer (DDA) package that is optional on the 959 Panigale. It integrates a GPS, lap timers, and logs many parameters of the bike such as throttle opening, speed, rpm, gear engaged, engine temperature and DTC activation.
The Panigale is available in White and Red. We personally like the Red one. It looks simply smashing. There are also personalization options available on the Panigale: The Sport Pack and the Touring Pack. Both the packages add a variety of features and accessories that can improve your bike in the racing or the touring experience respectively.
The Ducati 959 Panigale will retail at ₹14.04 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) and will be available to customers from July 2016.
