The Bugatti Chiron has been officially unveiled in a press preview at the Geneva Motor Show. If you thought the Bugatti Veyron was a fast supercar, think again. The successor to the Veyron, the Bugatti Chiron looks set to steal the crown from its predecessor. Bugatti were certainly aiming for stars when they began working on the Chiron. The nearly 1500hp $2.6 million Bugatti Chiron sets the benchmark for future supercars and decimates every production supercar on the planet.
The Bugatti Veyron was launched in 2005 and set performance benchmarks with 1000hp and ever since many competitors have come and gone. The likes of McLaren P1, Porsche 918 Spyder and the LaFerrari have undoubtedly surprised everybody but now the Chiron blows your mind; not just with its performance but the entire package! If there was ever a word to describe ‘beastly’, “Chiron” sums it up perfectly.
The Bugatti Chiron hypercar with its 8.0 liter, quad-turbo W16 motor that pumps out a frightening 1,478hp. If you still felt that wasn’t enough, hold your breath for it makes 1600Nm of torque! Looks like you can get to Mars faster than all the spaceships in the world with this hypercar. The engine produces peak torque at just 2,000 rpm and it stays strong till peak horsepower is delivered at 6,700 rpm. The Chiron hits the 0-100kmph mark in under 2.5 seconds, the 0-200kmph mark in under 6.5 seconds and the 0-300kmph mark in 13.5 seconds, a full 3 seconds quicker than the original Veyron. Top speed is a mind-blowing 439kmph.
The Bugatti Chiron features, larger turbos with an all-new breathing and cooling systems compared to its predecessor. There are a lot of new components on the car, such as a carbon-fiber inlet manifold, six catalytic converters and a titanium exhaust system that reduces back pressure. The Bugatti Chiron is roughly similar in size to the Veyron. The wheelbase is one millimeter longer, but the Chiron feels longer. It is also physically huge. The Chiron is 3 inches longer, 2 inches taller and an inch and a half wider. The Chiron is also about 340 pounds heavier than the Veyron, weighing in at 4,400 pounds. That’s the dry weight, without the 98 liters of fuel that the Chiron can hold.
