Super cars are fast. Scarily fast. You cannot legally drive a car at 200 mph on public roads. But, some cars can do such speeds all the same and they do it with ease. The world’s fastest cars are all about pushing the boundaries of speed and technology and that is what they excel at doing. In the hands of the inexperienced, they are machines with the potential of accelerating your fears into outer space. Here are ten fast cars that will accelerate your fears to space, and do it without breaking a sweat. Take a look at the 10 fast cars we would love to drive!
10: Noble M600
The Noble M600 is a handbuilt supercar made by Noble Automotive in Leicestershire. It is a 225 mph rocket ship that is as extreme as it comes. The Noble M600 houses a twin turbocharged 4.4 liter V-8 engine with two turbochargers that generates 650 hp. This accelerates the Noble from 0-100 kmph in 3.7 seconds flat. With a kerb weight of about 1250kg, the Noble has a weight ratio of 540bhp per tonne. It has slender and striking body lines with a well contoured body and an inconspicuous design that does not scream for attention every minute of the day.
The Noble M600 is fearsomely rapid, and it comes without the cool electronic aids that most supercars and hypercars offer today. It features no ABS and no stability control. The only electronic aid is the traction control. Turn it off and get prepared to have your fears accelerated into the farthest reaches of outer space. This is a car only for the brave-hearted among us, or the crazy ones.
The Noble retails at a base price of $330,000. It seems like a bargain in comparison to the supercar that it is up against: The Bugatti Veyron.
9: Gumpert Apollo Sport
The Gumpert Apollo Sport is named after the Greek God Apollo. It is a synthesis of dynamic and design, pure driving pleasure and unique aerodynamics. On the public roads, it speeds like a god. On the racetrack, it cries to be challenged by a worthy opponent. Gumpert claims that the Apollo Sport was designed such that it could drive upside down in a tunnel at speeds of 305kmph (190mph) and above. Prepare to leave your fears hanging as you accelerate this supercar to a top speed of 362kmph (225mph). Pure German Speed. That is what the Apollo Sport gives you.
The Apollo Sport tears through the 100 kmph mark in under 3.0 seconds. The 4.2 liter V-8 engine churns out 800 horses. The bodywork combines curves with potent edges and angles that give it the necessary aerodynamics. The Apollo Sport weighs in at 1200kg. It is equipped with an extended aerodynamic package. It consists of a racing wing which gives the car the downforce it requires to hit the speeds it does. The Apollo Sport retails at a base price of $450,000, making it slightly more expensive than the Noble but twice as wicked in its looks.
